Age-related income payment protection insurance offers low premiums if you are young or middle-aged and need to insure against losing your income. It pays a monthly benefit usually for a maximum of twelve months if you can't work as a result of sickness, accident or involuntary unemployment. The policy is not linked to any debt and the benefit payments can be spent as you wish. The cost is determined by the amount of cover chosen plus your age at the start of the policy and does not normally rise each year as you get older.
